About The Founder

divider Kevin J. Ruth

In early 2019, Kevin left his senior executive role at Fidelity Investments to focus full time on his passion - financial literacy for young adults. Over the course of his 25+ year career, Kevin has educated clients on financial topics and helped them achieve their financial goals. One thing he noticed, time and time again, was that the majority of the clients he served did not possess the basic financial literacy skills necessary to make informed financial decisions so he decided to do something about it.

Kevin wants to see a world where Americans have the skills to achieve financial freedom. Financially literate young adults would possess the tools to become financially self-sufficient and financially stable, enabling them to live the life they desire for themselves and their families.

Kevin believes that all high school students should be taught basic financial literacy skills. Financial literacy helps individuals become independent so they can achieve financial stability. Kevin created an App that is used to teach budgeting, saving, investing, owning, borrowing and speculating. High school students play a financial literacy game against other students in a national competition to earn scholarship money.

After graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point, Kevin served four years as an active duty Army officer. His first civilian job was as a financial planner for Summit Financial Resources. Kevin moved to Merrill Lynch where he was the director of private planning services, the ultra-high-net worth financial planning group for Merrill Lynch’s Private Banking division. Kevin and three other Merrill executives were recruited to UBS to start their Private Wealth Management division. During his 10 years at UBS, Kevin was the head of wealth planning and funds services. He was responsible for financial planning, insurance and annuities, UBS trust services, mutual funds, money funds, and retirement consulting services. In addition, he was the chair and CEO of UBS Trust Company, the president of UBS Financial Services Insurance Agency, and served on the board of the UBS Puerto Rico Family of Funds. At Fidelity Investments, Kevin was responsible for the company’s comprehensive wealth management activities and served as the first Chief Financial Planning Officer for Fidelity Personal and Workplace Advisors. Kevin is a Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®), a Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®), a Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®), an Accredited Estate Planner® (AEP®), and a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®).

Kevin serves as the chair of the Certified Financial Planner Board’s Standard Resource Commission.

Kevin married his high school sweetheart, Jill, and they have two adult children. His wife and daughters love beating him at Give-Get.
